The Best Applied Idea for the Regional Development

19.09.2025

"Economy of Regions", which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025, is launching a project aimed to accelerate the application of scientific developments in the field of regional economics into practice.

From the 1990s to the 2020s, the gap between scientific research and the real development of Russian regions and industrial enterprises has widened. Many scientific results remain only on paper without being implemented in practice. This is especially true for economic research. In an effort to bridge this gap, the Editorial Board of the "Economy of Regions" is launching the project "The Best Applied Idea for the Regional Development."

Manuscripts submitted as part of this project will undergo a special peer-review procedure: in addition to traditional scientific peer-review, it will involve representatives from businesses, state authorities, local government, and universities. Articles accepted after peer-review will be published in a special section of the 2025 and 2026 issues. This will allow both business and government representatives to see the potential of scientific research for solving specific problems of the regions, and authors to accelerate the application of their research projects in practice. The results of the project will be summarized in December 2026.

We invite authors to submit their articles via the online submission system on the journal's website www.economyofregions.org, selecting the section "The Best Applied Idea for the Regional Development" during upload.
