Financial models for publishing economic scientific journals
On June 28, 2024, a round table “Financial models for publishing economic academic journals” will be held in Ekaterinburg (Russia). The event will be part of the XI European-Asian Symposium on Economic Theory (EASET-2024). The organizers of the round table are the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of RAS together with the Russian Association of Science Editors and Publishers (RASEP).
Editors-in-chief, editorial staff and members of the editorial boards of economic journals will share their insights on:
- history of financial models for publishing academic journals;
- costs of publishing an academic journal;
- business models for publishing an academic journal in different formats for accessing content:
- comparison, advantages, risks when using different models;
- financial models for publishing open access journals: “gold” (APC), “diamond” or “bronze”?
- the effectiveness of the subscription model and the way it is transformed in conditions of active development of online publishing;
- a hybrid business model for publishing a journal as a model that considers various options for financing the publication and the access to the content;
- government projects supporting the publication of academic journals;
- solving ethical problems when publishing open access journals using the “golden” business model.
The round table will be held in a hybrid format: face-to-face and online.
