On June 28, 2024, a round table “Financial models for publishing economic academic journals” will be held in Ekaterinburg (Russia). The event will be part of the XI European-Asian Symposium on Economic Theory (EASET-2024).  The organizers of the round table are the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of RAS together with the Russian Association of Science Editors and Publishers (RASEP)

  • history of financial models for publishing academic journals;
  • costs of publishing an academic journal;
  • business models for publishing an academic journal in different formats for accessing content:
    • comparison, advantages, risks when using different models;
    • financial models for publishing open access journals: “gold” (APC), “diamond” or “bronze”?
    • the effectiveness of the subscription model and the way it is transformed in conditions of active development of online publishing;
    • a hybrid business model for publishing a journal as a model that considers various options for financing the publication and the access to the content;
  • government projects supporting the publication of academic journals;
  • solving ethical problems when publishing open access journals using the “golden” business model.

The round table will be held in a hybrid format: face-to-face and online.
